Earth Power

At ESB Science Blast we are curious about how the world works. Across each episode of ESB Science Blast TV, join us as our presenters, Clara Murray and John Sharpson, along with our science expert Mark Langtry, investigate the science behind questions that we have previously received from schools.

We want your class to be inspired by science and to see that science is everywhere!

In this episode we visit ESB and Raheenleagh Wind Farm, Co. Wicklow to find out how wind can be used to generate electricity. Clara discovers how Wind Turbines work and how owls influenced their design! Our Special Guest in this episode is Lucy Robinson, a Marine biologist, who amongst other things, tells us about swimming with basking sharks off the Kerry coast.

Mark introduces us to Inertia, the force that holds the universe together. In the final super-sized fun, but dangerous experiment, Mark demonstrates how Inertia works, combining John’s speed, a tablecloth and his best set of plates!
