Changes in Energy

At ESB Science Blast we are curious about how the world works. Across each episode of ESB Science Blast TV, join us as our presenters, Clara Murray and John Sharpson, along with our science expert Mark Langtry, investigate the science behind questions that we have previously received from schools.

We want your class to be inspired by science and to see that science is everywhere!

We visit Panda’s Waste Management Facility to find out what happens to our green waste and how the content of our Green Bins is separated and recycled. On visits to Green Generation and Hexafly, John discovers how the contents of our food-waste bins are used not only create Biogas but he also meets some very interesting maggots who have an important role to play in the future of food-waste. Our Special Guest in this episode is Mark Robinson, a professional Storm Chaser, who amongst other things, tells us how safe you are in your car during a lightning storm.

Mark shows us how energy transforms from one form to another.  He constructs a catapult to show how potential energy changes to kinetic energy, which is perfect to do with your class. In the final, super-sized fun experiment, John & Clara demonstrate transformations in energy during a Waste Bingee Run which brings this episode to a hilarious close.
